On the ride back from Las Vegas, Mike decided he wanted to give the Big Texans 72oz steak challenge a try. Basically you have 1 hour to eat a monstrous piece of meat, salad, potato, roll, fried shrimp. If you don't finish it you have to pay the $72 for the meal. Mike felt confident he could do this challenge and from the drive from Santa Rosa, NM to Amarillo he was preparing himself - he didn't eat breakfast.
No joke, the steak was freaking HUGE. I told Mike he wasn't going to want a steak for a very long time after trying this, but he laughed at me.
The staff kept coming back and telling me how good he was doing and they thought he was going to make it.
Silly boy even asked for more rolls which he actually ATE.
Preparing for what I thought, I ordered the cheapest thing on the menu for Michael and myself. A hamburger, and Michael wanted a piece of chocolate cake. I will honestly say that I didn't think Mike would be able to do this. That steak was so huge.
Total for our meal: $92.11
Mike had 11oz left. Proud of him that he didn't get as sick as I thought he would. He didn't even puke. Way to go!
After the challenge. Look at him, he got a nice t-shirt for his effort and bragging rights that he attempted it. And YES, I was told he didn't want steak for a very LONG time. ha, ha, ha!
